I’ve seen a few friends lately question certain parts of their business. Which should they work on and which should they dump? You can feel their frustration and dissapointment between the lines. Sadly, I’ve been there once too often and at the beginning of the year I was forced into that same situation again.
In the end I decided to let go one of my online ventures which is doing decently although I just don’t have the time, nor energy to focus on it. The worst part that made me want to continue on was that I paid good money. Really good money to get into that group.
The year before I decided to quit installing scripts for people and accepting custom scripting jobs and that paid off nicely. As you will recall in earlier posts.
Will this year be the same? I don’t know but right now I have suddenly freed myself two whole days to work on stuff I really want to work on. So… will it be worth it? Only time will tell but so far, I’ve got a good feeling about this.
How about you? Do you have something taking up too much of your time and focus? Things that you don’t really want to do but feel you have to? Well before dropping it, see if you can outsource it.
If it is totally different from the rest of your business and is taking you away from your main business, then maybe you need to cut something loose and focusing on your best. I highly recommend Kelly McCausey’s Power of a Focused Business to guide you if you need to make such a decision.
