What do you think? Many would say it’s his experience, knowledge or whether the guru practices what they preach. All that is of course part of what makes a guru a guru but what makes some gurus worth paying attention to? Makes people trust them without question and will pay just about anything to get their products.
I personally believe there is one key ingredient that sets some gurus apart. That is the ability to be real and stay real to your customers.
About a week ago, I contacted copywriting guru Michel Fortin about www.thecopydoctor.com. Before I go on let me back up a little bit. I briefly met Michel at the Big Seminar last year. Before that we exchanged maybe two emails, about his forum.
So when I sent a support ticket to him, I’d been out of contact for almost a year. Guess what? He remembered little old me. Now that blew me away. Do I look at him in a different light now? But of course. I’ve already been impressed with his work but this incident made me feel even better about the products he sells and recommends. Very Web 2.0.
So how do you decide who you can trust? This. Is one way. Granted, not all gurus can answer your emails or answer your support tickets personally. They are busy people after all but they must be somewhat accessible.
